The Reliable Solution for Demanding Industrial Applications The fundamental advantage lies in the forging process. When comparing forged check valve vs cast check valve, the forged variant consistently demonstrates higher tensile strength, better fatigue resistance, and improved impact toughness. This makes it the mandatory choice for services outlined in standards like API 602 forged check valve specifications, which govern compact, high-integrity valve design for refinery and pipeline applications. For engineers specifying a 2 inch 1500LB valve for a critical steam line or a corrosive chemical service, the material integrity offered by forging provides a vital safety margin and reduces the risk of catastrophic forged check valve leakage.Forged Steel Check Valve
Product Overview
Shield™ Forged Steel Check Valve - High Pressure Application
Forged check valves are designed for performance and longevity. Key connection types include SW forged check valve (Socket Weld) and Threaded forged check valve ends, often with specific NPT forged check valve threading. The compact lug style forged check valve is a popular design for easy installation between flanges. Internally, designs like the forged Y-type check valve minimize pressure drop in horizontal piping. For the highest integrity shut-off, a forged globe check valve combines linear motion sealing with the strength of forging. ShieldTM Forged Steel Check valves are compact, sturdy and ideal for high pressure and high temperature applications. The Forged Steel check valves are available in three bonnet designs. Bolted Bonnet Welded Bonnet Pressure Seal Bolted Bonnet whose bonnet and body are connected by bolt, with male-female joint, spiral wound gasket, made in F316L/graphite. Ring joint gasket are also available on request. Welded bonnet which with the body and bonnet all welded and sealed with a threaded and seal welded joint. On request a full penetration strength welded joint is available. Pressure seal bonnet. These valves shall be bolted bonnet or welded bonnet type with full or standard bore options. The forged steel check valves are also available in three different design configurations. Lift Check Valve Piston check valve. In Piston, or lift, check valves a body-guided disc moves within the body bore. The body guide ensures alignment of the seat and disc when the valve closes. Swing Check Valve Swing check valves. The disk swings away from the valve-seat to allow flow in the forward direction, and returns to the valve-seat when upstream flow is stopped, to prevent backflow. Ball Check Valve The function of ball check valves. The ball is free to rotate, resulting in even wear and a wiping action between the ball and seat. This feature makes ball checks useful for viscous media. 1 Superior tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and impact toughness compared to cast valves. 2 Designed for demanding applications with pressure ratings up to 2500LB and beyond. 3 Precision machining ensures tight sealing and prevents backflow in critical applications. 4 Available in swing, lift, and ball designs with various end connections and bonnet types. 5 Meets industry standards for compact, forged steel gate, globe, and check valves. Below is a detailed breakdown of the key components that ensure the reliability and performance of our forged check valves. 1 Body: Forged steel and is available in both the full or standard port design. It is also available in either T-Pattern or Y-Pattern configurations. 2 Piston, Ball or Disc: The piston, ball or disc is forged steel and is part of the valve trim. The seating surface of the piston and ball check is of the tapered or plug type design. 3 Cover: The cover is forged steel and designed to the basic dimensional requirements of the applicable specifications. 4 Cover Bolting: The cover bolting is manufactured of alloy steel in accordance with the requirements of the applicable specifications. 5 Spring: The spring is optional and supplied only upon request. 6 Seat: The body seat for the piston and ball check valves is an integral weld overlay and is part of the valve trim. Selecting the correct valve involves more than just material. It requires matching the valve to the service. Proper how to install forged check valve procedures are critical. Incorrect installation is a leading cause of leakage and premature failure. Partnering with reputable forged check valve suppliers who provide technical data and support is crucial for long-term system reliability. Always confirm the forged check valve price list corresponds to the correct pressure class (e.g., 800LB, 1500LB) and size (e.g., 2 inch). Specify whether you need SW (Socket Weld) or Threaded ends, and ensure compliance with relevant standards like API 602. Choose carbon forged steel check valve for general service or stainless steel forged for corrosion resistance. Decide between swing, piston, or dual plate designs based on flow characteristics.Design Features
